Leon Theremin playing his instrument

Welcome to TECI

The Theremin Enthusiasts Club International, or TECI, is a gathering place for everyone who loves the theremin. Whether you are a seasoned performer, a curious beginner, or just someone who heard that strange, beautiful sound and wanted to know more, this is your home.

We started in 1995, back when the internet was young and the theremin was still a mystery to most people. Our goal was simple: to connect people who were fascinated by this instrument. Over the years, we have grown into a global community. We have members from all over the world, from different backgrounds, ages, and skill levels. But we all share one thing in common: a love for the theremin.

The theremin is unlike any other instrument. You play it without touching it. Your hands move through the air, shaping the sound with gestures. It is as close to magic as music gets. Leon Theremin invented it in the 1920s, and it has been captivating audiences ever since. From classical concerts to science fiction soundtracks, the theremin has found its way into many corners of our culture.

At TECI, we want to keep that magic alive. We collect stories, share knowledge, and help each other learn. We have archives of articles, interviews, and rare documents. We have plans for building your own theremin. We have lists of performers and recordings. And we have a community that is always ready to welcome new friends.

This website is our home on the internet. It is a place where you can explore the history of the theremin, discover new artists, find resources for learning, and connect with other enthusiasts. We are not a commercial operation. We are a group of volunteers who believe that this instrument deserves to be remembered and celebrated.

We hope you will take some time to look around. Read about Leon Theremin and his incredible invention. Learn about Clara Rockmore, the woman who showed the world what the theremin could really do. Check out our collection of articles, interviews, and rare documents. And if you feel inspired, consider joining our community.

TECI is not just a website. It is a living community. We have a mailing list where members share news, ask questions, and help each other. We have links to events, festivals, and workshops. We have a membership list that connects people from all over the world. And we are always looking for new ways to celebrate the theremin.

So welcome. Whether you are here for the history, the music, or the community, you are in the right place. Stay tuned. There is always more to discover.
